COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Completed his fourth season in 2024-25, guiding UH to a 291.89 scoring average, which ranked No. 4 all-time in program history
  • Led team to its two highest scoring averages in program history (290.8) in 2023-24 and (291.0) in 2022-23
  • Team set program records for single round (272) at the 2024 Alister MacKenzie Invitational; 36-holes (551) at the 2023 Ka‘anapali Collegiate Invitational on Maui and 54-hole scoring mark with a 29-under 835 at the 2023 Kapolei Invitational on O‘ahu
  • Coached Blaze Akana to a 71.67 scoring average in 2023-24 which is No. 2 all-time in program history while his 72.02 career scoring average at UH is No. 1 all-time
  • Also coached Josh Hayashida, who tied the program record for low single round of 9-under 63 at the 2025 Amer Ari Intercollegiate
  • Hired at UH on June 25, 2021 becoming the program’s eighth head coach since turning Division I.
  • Coached two seasons as assistant coach for the women’s program from 2019-21, helping the Rainbow Wahine post five Top 5 team finishes
  • Coached two seasons of high school golf at Le Jardin Academy

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Inducted into both the Hawai‘i State Golf Hall of Fame (February 2024) and Southern California Golf Hall of Fame (March 2024)

PLAYING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Won seven times in a 27-year PGA Tour careers, including the 1987 U.S. Open.
  • Recorded 15 runner-up finishes on Tour and nine Top 10s in major championships.
  • Won three times on the Japan Tour and four Hawai‘i State Opens including back-to-back in 1993 and ’94.
  • Joined the PGA Champions Tour in 2005 and won the 2006 Walmart First Tee Open.
  • Two-time NCAA Championship medalist in 1976 and ’77.
  • Won the Fred Haskins Award as the Collegiate Player of the Year in 1977.
  • Member of the United States Walker Cup team in 1977, Ryder Cup in 1987, and Kirin Cup in 1987.
  • Ranked No. 1 amateur by Golf Digest in 1976
