NORMAN, Okla. – For the fifth time in program history and third consecutive year, the University of Hawai'i men's golf program was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of American as the recipient of the Platform Golf Team Academic Award.
 
UH was among 88 schools to earn the highest honor, the Presidents Special Recognition for earning a combined team grade point average of 3.50 or above. Hawai'i was one of two Big West schools to receive that distinction.
 
Previously, four Rainbow Warrior teams (2015, '18, '24, and '25) were recognized with Team Academic awards.
 
On Monday, three UH golfers – Nathan Szpakowicz, Dane Watanabe, and James Whitworth – were named All-America Scholars by the GCAA for maintaining a 3.20+ grade point average and a scoring average of 76.0.
 
A GCAA-record 331 schools across six divisions earned a Platform Golf Team Academic Award. 155 schools received Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above. Maryland Eastern Shore earned the Academic National Champion award for Division I with a combined GPA of 3.943.
