LONG BEACH, Calif. — The top-seeded University of Hawai'i water polo team begins its Big West Championship title defense against eighth-seeded UC Santa Barbara in a quarterfinal match on Friday at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Complex in Long Beach, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine captured their third consecutive Big West regular-season title and take on the Gauchos in the opening match of the Big West Championship at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (7:00 a.m. Hawai'i Time). The winner will face No. 4-seed UC Irvine or No. 5-seed UC San Diego in the semifinals on Saturday. The final is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. PT (11 a.m. HT) with the champion claiming the Big West's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship (April 24-26, La Jolla, Calif.).

- Freshman Ariadna Temprano Xambó leads the 'Bows in total points (63) and assists (29). She ranks second on the team with 34 goals scored and holds a .425 shooting percentage.
- Temprano Xambó (1.7) and Roni Perlman (1.6) rank third and fourth in the Big West in assists per game.
- Senior Raha Peiravani posted a hat trick in the regular-season finale against Cal State Fullerton and has created scoring opportunities throughout the season with a team-high 41 drawn exclusions.
- Goalkeeper Daisy Logtens has 133 saves (.459 save percentage) and 13 steals on the season. The junior's goals-against average (10.17) is the lowest in the Big West.
- Logtens ranks fourth on UH's career saves chart with 558.
