AZUSA, Calif. – The Hawai'i track and field team delivered a series of all-time program marks and season-best performances on day one of competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday.
The Rainbow Wahine distance squad turned in a historic afternoon in the 800-meter run, led by
Lucy Milliner's season-best performance. Milliner crossed the finish line in 2:08.07, a mark that sits just two seconds shy of her own personal record and the current school record.
Izzy Gorton followed closely with a standout performance of her own, clocking a 2:08.45 to move into the No. 5 spot on the Hawai'i all-time list.
Highlighting the day's action for the Rainbow Wahine sprinters,
Robyn Larkan clocked a blistering 11.81 seconds in the 100-meter dash. The performance moved Larkan into the No. 7 spot all-time in program history for the event.
The Hawai'i jumpers also turned in solid performances in their respective events. In the high jump, the duo of
Lilian Turban and
Lisa Martensson proved to be a formidable pairing, posting a 3-4 finish for UH in the invitational section of the meet. Turban cleared 1.74m (5-8.25) to lead the pair in a field featuring some of the region's elite talent.
In the sand pits,
Tara Wyllie continued her consistent outdoor campaign with a third-place finish in the triple jump invitational section. Wyllie wasted no time making her mark, soaring to 12.78m (41-11.25) on her very first attempt of the afternoon. The mark held up through the final rounds to keep her on the podium.
