Water Polo Faces Long Beach State for Big West Title

LONG BEACH, Calif. — The top-seeded University of Hawai'i water polo team will take aim at a third straight Big West Championship title when the Rainbow Wahine face No. 2 seed and tournament host Long Beach State in the final on Sunday, April 12 at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Complex in Long Beach, Calif. The match is set for at 11:00 a.m. HT (2:00 p.m. PT) and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The two-time defending champion Rainbow Wahine held off fourth-seeded UC Irvine 8-7 in the semifinals on Saturday, while Long Beach State advanced with a 12-10 victory over third-seeded UC Davis. Sunday's final will be the third meeting of the season between the 'Bows and Beach with the winner claiming the Big West's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship (April 24-26, La Jolla, Calif.).

OPENING SPRINT
  • UH is seeking its third straight Big West Championship title and the seventh in program history.
