IRVINE, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team received three of the four Big West Player of the Week awards, increasing its season total to 23. The trio helped the Rainbow Warriors sweep a two-match Big West series against UC Santa Barbara last week in Honolulu.
Sophomore
Kristian Titriyski was named Offensive Player of the Week, junior
Quintin Greenidge was named Defensive Player of the Week, and junior
Tread Rosenthal earned Setter of the Week. The award marks Titriyski's third of the season—his second in three weeks—and the fifth of his career. Greenidge was honored for the fourth time this season and for the second straight week. Rosenthal picked up his ninth setter award this season—his fifth straight—and the 14th of his career. In his career, Rosenthal has won 21 different Big West weekly awards.
UH's season total of 23 Player of the Week awards is more than double the next highest team (UC Irvine, 10).
The Rainbow Warriors (21-3, 4-0 BWC) begin a four-match, 11-day road trip starting with a two-match series against UC Irvine, April 3–4 in Irvine, Calif.
Kristian Titriyski, Offensive Player of the Week Titriyski led the team with 29 kills (4.14 avg.) in the two-match series. He also averaged 2.14 digs and 0.71 blocks per set, hitting .258 with one ace. He recorded his first career double-double with a season-high 18 kills and a career-high 12 digs, alongside four blocks, in the series opener. He tallied six of his team-high 18 kills in the deciding fourth set of that win. In the rematch, he added 11 kills, one ace, three digs, and one block in a straight-set victory. Titriyski has recorded 10 or more kills in 11 of 12 matches this season, including each of the last four since returning to the starting lineup.
Quintin Greenidge, Defensive Player of the Week Greenidge led the team with 19 total digs (2.71 avg.) in the two-match series. He tallied eight digs in the series opener and 11 digs in the straight-set rematch. He has seven matches with 10 or more digs this year and finished the weekend with a .943 reception percentage, committing only two errors in 35 total reception attempts.
Tread Rosenthal, Setter of the Week Rosenthal averaged 11.00 assists per set across the two matches. He also averaged 1.57 digs and 0.86 blocks per set, adding four kills and one ace. He orchestrated an offense that hit .277 in the series, including a .378 clip in the straight-set win in the rematch. He tallied 44 assists, two kills, seven digs, and four blocks in the series opener and followed that with 33 assists, two kills, four digs, and two blocks in the rematch.
