COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three University of Hawai'i men's volleyball student-athletes are among a group of 24 athletes picked for the 2026 United States Men's U21 National Team.
Trevell Jordan,
Roman Payne, and
Kainoa Wade will train with the team from June 12-21 at the Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Fourteen athletes will be selected to compete at the 2026 NORCECA Men's U21 Pan American Cup, June 21-29 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
UH assistant head coach
Donan Cruz is the head coach of the squad. Last year, he served as assistant coach for the U21 squad.
Jordan and Wade were members of the U21 squad that captured bronze at the 2025 U21 World Championships in China. Jordan has been a member of the U21 team since 2023, while Wade has been a part of the team since 2024.
Payne moved up from the U19 squad, which he joined in 2024, and he was a member of the 2025 U19 World Championship team.
"We're excited to work with a group of experienced and talented young athletes in preparation for our U21 Pan American Cup," Cruz said in a USA Volleyball press release. "This will be a blend of younger guys moving up from U19 and a few players from our U21 team that earned bronze in China at Worlds. This intersection will be a great springboard into our cycle as we look ahead to the next World Championships."
