NEWS & NOTES
  • Last week, Hawai'i and Cal State Fullerton endured severe storm weather, eventually getting all three games in on Sunday. The teams moved up the game that was originally scheduled to be played on Friday up to  Thursday night. UH held a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when the skies opened up with a deluge of rain that would force the game's suspension to Sunday. On Sunday, UH extended its lead to 3-0 when the game resumed and held off the Titans for a 3-0 win. But in the doubleheader, UH squandered some scoring opportunities as the Titans held off UH, 7-5 and 6-5 to take the series, 2-1.
  • Leading UH last week was junior first baseman  Jamie McGaughey who hit .600 (3-for-5) with two runs scored, an RBI with four walks and an on-base % of .700. Junior shortstop Milan Ah Yat has found her groove, this past week she hit .500 (3-for-6) with two runs, three RBI and two home runs with two walks and two hit-by-pitches. She led UH with a 1.500 slugging percentage. In conference play, she is hitting .375 and leads UH with three home runs and seven RBI with a slugging percentage of 1.063.
  • In the pitching circle, senior Hannah Pitts went 1-1 against Cal State Fullerton. She fired a complete-game shutout to open the series spacing four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. She took the loss in the series finale in relief as she gave up two runs on six hits. Overall, Pitts has a team-low 2.42 ERA and enters this week with a 6-4 overall record with a 3-1 mark in the Big West. Overall she has tossed three complete games with a pair of shutouts and has thrown a team-high 63.2 innings. She has walked just six batters with a team-best 33 strikeouts.
  • Be aware of the Rainbow Wahine on the basepaths as they are much more aggressive putting pressure on the defense taking advantage of stolen bases, wild pitches and passed balls. This season the 'Bows have swiped 34 bases, which is 13 more than UH stole in the entire 2025 season.
  • Just over half of Hawai'i's roster hails from the Aloha State of Hawai'i. A total 13 of 24 players stayed or have returned home to play for Hawai'i after starting their careers at other institutions. With Irimata starting in the circle, the Rainbow Wahine have started as many as eight Hawai'i players in the starting line up. Ten players come to UH from the island of O'ahu, with two from Maui and one from Kaua'i.
