SAN DIEGO – The Hawai'i women's track and field team closed out the opening weekend of the outdoor season at the PLNU Sea Lion Invite with another solid bunch of performances Saturday.
The Rainbow Wahine throwers highlighted the day, holding down three of the top four spots in the shot put.
Lilian Turban took home the win with a toss of 14.45m (47-5) followed by
Rose Forshaw in third (13.93m, 45-8.5) and
Samaria Vital in fourth (13.64m, 44-9). Vital the closed out the day by improving upon her seventh-best program mark in the discus, earning the event win with a toss of 50.97m (167-2).
On the track, UH's 4x100m relay squad turned in the eighth-fastest time in program history as
Tara Wyllie,
Robyn Larkan,
Amelie Fairclough and
Kristin Cook got around in 46.74 to take home the event win.
Wyllie also matched her personal best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.11, a mark that sits in fifth in UH history.
Hawai'i will remain on the continent for the week ahead of the UCR Spring Classic on Mar. 21.
