HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team's series opener against Cal State Fullerton was suspended due to heavy rains in the middle of the fourth with UH leading, 1-0 on Thursday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The game will resume on Sunday, March 15th at 12:00 p.m. HT. The second game of the series will follow the conclusion of the first game--weather permitting.
In the second inning, with one out and runners at first and second,
Carys Murakami hit a grounder to second that went down as an error which allowed
Nevaeh Telles to score from second to give the 'Bows a 1-0 lead. The Rainbow Wahine would go on to load the bases with two outs, but a pop-out to second thwarted the rally.
The rain delay started at 7:30 p.m. after the top of the fourth, but the rain never let up and umpires ruled the game to be halted due to playing conditions.
The series originally was supposed to start on Friday, March 13
th with a doubleheader, but due to the incoming storm system rolling in, the teams attempted to get at least one game in on Thursday night.
