Rosenthal, Roure Selected To AVCA Player of the Year Watch List

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Hawai'i setter Tread Rosenthal and outside hitter Adrien Roure are among a group of 15 players named to the inaugural AVCA Men's Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List.

The list includes players from 11 different schools with UH, Loyola Chicago, Pepperdine, and UCLA as the only schools with multiple honorees.

More players may be added as the season progresses, and a group of semifinalists will be announced in early April. Four finalists will then be named shortly before the 2026 National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship with the announcement of the Player of the Year taking place in Los Angeles at an awards banquet during the 2026 Championship.

Rosenthal and Roure were first-team AVCA All-Americans last season. Rosenthal, a junior from Austin, Texas, has started all 71 matches of his career at setter and this season ranks fourth nationally and first in the Big West in assists per set (10.77 avg.). Roure, a sophomore from Lyon, France, is averaging 3.17 kills per set, hitting at a .417 clip.

A Rainbow Warrior has been named AVCA Player of the Year five times, including Costas Theocharidis, who is the school's only two-time winner in 2001 and 2003. In recent years, Rado Parapunov earned the award in 2021 while Jakob Thelle was the winner in 2023. Yuval Katz became the school's first recipient in 1996.
