HONOLULU--The University of Hawai«i softball team and first year head coach Panita Thanatharn begin a new era for the Rainbow Wahine softball program as they open their 2026 season hosting the Bank of Hawai'i Paradise Classic. The four-team tournament runs from Thursday, Feb. 5-Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Coming to open the season against the 'Bows in Honolulu are North Dakota, Pacific and SeattleU.
Thanatharn and staff are looking to bring a new energy and attitude to the Rainbow Wahine squad which finished last season with an overall record of 33-20 record, while tying for srcond in the Big West with a 17-10 conference mark.
The Rainbow Wahine return 17 letterwinners from last season--including a solid core of six returnees (
Jamie McGaughey-Jr. 1B),
Carys Murakami (Sr., 2B);
Milan Ah Yat (Jr. SS),
Larissa Goshi (Sr., RF),
Cierra Yamamoto (Sr., OF/C),
Ellyanna Cinzori (Sr., DP). But the 'Bows have big shoes to fill with the graduation of four-year starting catcher
Izabella Martinez, centerfielder
Chloe Borges, and third baseman
Liliana Thomas.
