ANAHEIM, Calif.-- The University of Hawai'i cheerleading team heads to Anaheim, Calif. to compete in their second-straight USA Collegiate Championships from February 21-22 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Head coach Mike Baker will have a squad of 18 men's and women's cheerleaders competing at the Nationals. The 'Bows will open in the semifinal round and will be performing on Feb. 21st at 2:15 p.m. HT. If the team advances, the finals will be held the following day, Feb. 22md.
The UH cheer team is traditionally known nationally for their innovative and dynamic routines, and this year is no different as they unveil a new pyramids and stunts. The UH cheer squad has placed in the Top 10 in 17 appearances covering a 25-year span at the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Fla.
This year's team is a veteran crew with a few international standouts and newcomers added into the mix. Since the end of the Fall season, the cheer team has ramped up their practices in between working all the arena sports to focus on training for their routine for the National stage.
Teams will be judged on crowd interaction and skills—including partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, tumbling and overall impression.
