HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i goalkeeper Daisy Logtens was named the Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week on Wednesday after an impressive showing at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational held Feb. 13-15 in Irvine, Calif.
This is Logtens' second career weekly honor and her first since Feb. 28, 2024 — also earned after the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
Logtens protected the cage with 24 saves and four steals to help the fifth-ranked Rainbow Wahine go 2-1 in the high-powered tournament that featured six of the top seven teams in the national polls.
The junior opened the week with eight saves against No. 4 California. She then made five saves while anchoring a defensive effort that held UC Irvine to single goals in the third and fourth quarters to fuel an 11-6 victory. She closed the tournament with 11 saves — her third double-figure performance of the season — in a win over Fresno State. The 'Bows shut out the Bulldogs in the second quarter and held Fresno State to a .281 shot percentage and a 1-for-7 showing on power plays.
No. 5 UH returns to action and begins Big West play against No. 10 UC Irvine on Feb. 27 at the Anteater Aquatics Complex in Irvine Calif. The 'Bows will also face No. 11 Long Beach State on March 1 at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center in Long Beach, Calif.
