PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in 12^th place after Monday's final round of the Alice and John Wallace Classic at the Monterey Country Club.
 
The Rainbow Wahine posted a 299 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 907. UH moved up another spot after starting the tournament in 16^th place following Saturday's opening round. Hawai'i moved up four spots on Sunday and another spot on Monday to defeat three higher ranked teams.
 
Second-ranked USC ran away with the team title with an 835 total, 26 strokes better than runner-up Eastern Michigan (861). No. 11 UCLA (870) finished third followed by California (874) and No. 10 Vanderbilt (876).
 
Jasmine Wong was UH's top finisher at 9-over 222 after a final round 73 and tied for 29^th place. After a shaky start to the tournament, the Honolulu native fired 2-over par over her last 36 holes. Maline Kraus tied for 48^th place at 227 while Sofina Firouzi tied for 62^nd at 230.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were Chloe Ku (79=232, t-70^th) and Emiko Sverduk (77=233, t-74^th) while Kaydence Kim competed as an individual (87=250, t-94^th).
 
USC's Catherine Park captured medalist honors at 11-under 202 after a final round 65, five strokes ahead of runner-up Alexis Vakasiuola of Grand Canyon (207)
 
Hawai'i will next compete in the GameAbove Invitational, March 9-10 in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.
