HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team showed a 13-stroke improvement in Saturday's second round at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, firing a 7-over 295 at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.
Hawai'i remains in 15th place with a 603 (+27) 36-hole team total heading into Sunday's final round.
Sophomore
Chloe Ku led the Rainbow Wahine surge on Saturday. The San Ramon, Calif., native bounced back from an opening-round 76 to card a team-best 1-under 71 in Round 2. Ku rolled up the leaderboard into a tie for 29th place overall with a two-round score of 3-over 147.
Junior
Jasmine Wong and freshman
Kady Matsumoto also turned in improved performances in the second round. Wong shaved six strokes off her opening round to post a 1-over 73, while Matsumoto carded a 2-over 74. Both golfers head into the final 18 holes tied for 52nd place at 8-over 152.
Sophomore
Kaydence Kim registered her second consecutive 77 to tie for 66th at 10-over 154, while senior
Olivia Jang carded a 78 to sit in 71st place at 155 (+11).
UNLV holds the 36-hole lead in the 15-team field at 8-under 568 following a 5-under 283 on Saturday. Tulane's Sophia Macias sits atop the individual leaderboard at 6-under 138 (67-71).
The tournament concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes.
