Water Polo Voted First In Big West Preseason Poll; Three Named To Coaches Team

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team was voted first in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll, with junior Daisy Logtens and sophomores Ema Vernoux and Agatha Weston earning selections to the Big West Preseason Coaches Team.

The Big West announced the 2026 preseason honors on Friday and the Rainbow Wahine totaled 45 points and received five first-place votes in the poll followed by Long Beach State with 44 points and two first-place votes.

Logtens earns her second straight appearance on the Big West Preseason Coaches Team following another standout campaign in 2025. The junior goalkeeper collected Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Third Team honors and was named to the All-Big West First Team. She recorded 209 saves and 35 steals, and led the Big West in goals against average (9.10) and ranked third in the conference in save percentage (.482). Logtens capped the season with a dominant postseason, which earned her Big West Championship MVP honor. She later allowed no goals in the first and fourth quarters in a win against Cal in the NCAA quarterfinals.

Vernoux, the reigning Big West Freshman of the Year, looks to build on an impressive start to her collegiate career. She earned ACWPC All-America honorable mention recognition and was selected to the All-Big West First Team and Big West All-Freshman Team. The Marseille, France native led the team and ranked third in the conference with 78 goals (2.9 per match), while also leading the team in points (98), shots (142) and shot percentage (.549). Vernoux recorded 16 hat tricks, including 10 games with four goals or more goals.

Weston returns to the lineup after redshirting in 2025. During her freshman season in 2024, she was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team after totaling 19 goals, 14 assists and 29 steals. The redshirt sophomore returned to competition during the Legacy Crown Tournament in November, where she registered seven goals against the nation's top competition.

Led by second-year head coach James Robinson, UH enters the season as the defending Big West champion after posting a 22-5 overall record and an undefeated 7-0 mark in conference play in 2025. The Rainbow Wahine advanced to the semifinals of the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship and finished the year ranked No. 4 in both the ACWPC and Collegiate Water Polo Association polls.

The 'Bows open the 2026 season with a trip to Central California for the Fresno State Polopalooza. UH faces Indiana in an exhibition game on Jan. 16 and officially opens the season on Jan. 17 with a doubleheader against San Jose State and Cal at the Fresno State Aquatics Center in Fresno, Calif.
