MISHIMA CITY, Japan – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team fell down the leaderboard after the second round of the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League with a 304 Thursday at the Grand Fields Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine dropped from a tie for third place to eighth place with a 588 total through 36 holes. Nihon University is atop the leaderboard at 3-under 565 followed by UCLA (566), Meiji University (567), Fukui University of Technology (569), and rounding out the top five Tohoku Fukushi University (570). SMU (586) is seventh.
Maline Kraus recorded UH's top score of the day at 2-over 73 and is tied for 12
th place at even par 142 for the tournament.
Emiko Sverduk carded a 4-over 75 and is tied for 22nd at 4-over 146.
Wendy Song posted a second straight 76 and is 10-over 152 and tied for 45
th.
Varnika S. Achanta, who shot 3-under 68 on Wednesday, struggled with an 85 and is 11-over 153 and tied for 48
th.
Sofina Firouzi rounds out the UH contingent at 165 and 62
nd place.
UCLA's Maye Huang posted a 5-under 66 and shared the tournament lead with Nihon's Nagi Kuramochi and Meiji's Shio Chaki at 5-under 137.
The tournament concludes on Friday.
