For the fourth time in the last five seasons, the University of Hawai'i women's golf team returns to Highlands Ranch, Colo., for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5 at the University of Denver Golf Course at Highlands Ranch.
The University of Denver hosts the 15-team tournament which will be played at the 6,611-yard, par-72 course. UH is the only Big West Conference school among the field which also includes Clemson, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico, Northern Colorado, San Francisco, Texas State, Tulane, UNLV, UTSA, Vanderbilt, Wyoming, and Xavier.
Competing for the Rainbow Wahine are
Maline Kraus,
Jasmine Wong,
Sofina Firouzi,
Chloe Ku, and
Emiko Sverduk. Wong, a Honolulu native and transfer from Gonzaga, will be making her UH debut.
Last season, Kraus tied the program's 54-hole score at this event with a 5-under 211 total after carding a final round 3-under 69 to finish in a tie for fifth place. Her 211 total tied the program record set by Momo Sugiyama at the 2022 Fresno State Classic. In addition, Sverduk tied for 22
nd place after entering the final round 2-under par.
At the 2021 Ron Moore Intercollegiate, UH tied for seventh place with two golfers finishing in the Top 20. Last season, the Rainbow Wahine took ninth and with the help of Kraus, recorded a final round 287, which was the third-lowest single-round in program history. In fact, UH's 874 total also was the third-best 54-hole score in program history.
Following this week's tournament, Hawai'i will host the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 20-22 at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Līhu'e, Kaua'i.
