Women’s Golf Finishes In 14th Place At Leadership & Golf Invite

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team placed 14th after the final round of the Leadership and Golf Invitational Tuesday at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
 
The Rainbow Wahine posted 307 for a 922 total. Eastern Michigan captured the team title at 859, four strokes over runner-up Oregon State (863).
 
Maline Kraus led the way for Hawai'i, tying for 24th place at 8-over 224 following a final round 74. Freshman Chloe Ku completed her first collegiate tournament in a tie for 44th place at 12-over 228.
 
Also competing for Hawai'i were Emiko Sverduk (77=231, t-57th), Wendy Song (79=242, 80th), and Varnika S. Achanta (83=251, 84th).
 
EMU's Janae Leovao captured medalist honors at 7-under 209, by one stroke over San Jose State's Moa Andersson (2010).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Ron Moore intercollegiate, Oct. 3-5, in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
