HONOLULU – A group of five Hawai'i track and field athletes earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors Tuesday for their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition.
Rose Forshaw,
Helen Hoadley,
Catherine Touchette,
Lilian Turban and
Tara Wyllie earned the honor that requires student-athletes to hold a 3.5 GPA or higher while ranking highly in a regional ranking in their respective events.
It marks the third consecutive year that the Rainbow Wahine have had the maximum number of five student-athletes named Academic All-District. Turban earned the honor for the third straight year while Hoadley and Wyllie have claimed the recognition for the second consecutive season.
Rose Forshaw, Jr., Throws
- Runner up in the javelin at the Big West Championships with a toss of 44.35m (145-6).
- Moved into the UH top 10 in the javelin outdoors (10th) and the shot put indoors (9th).
- Two-time MPSF Academic All-Conference honoree indoors and a 2024 Big West Academic All-Conference selection last year outdoors.
Helen Hoadley, Sr., Pole Vault
- Qualified for the NCAA First Round for the first time in her career.
- Runner-up in the pole vault at both the Big West Outdoor Championships and MPSF Indoor Championships.
- School record holder in the pole vault both indoors (4.13m) and outdoors (4.20m).
Catherine Touchette, Jr., Multis
- Podium finish in the heptathlon at the Big West Championships, finishing third with a career performance totaling 5,496 points.
- Heptathlon total moved her into second all-time in UH history.
- Came in third in the pentathlon at the MPSF Indoor Championships with a total of 3,812 points, good for the third-best mark in school history.
Lilian Turban, Sr., Jumps/Throws
- Named field athlete of the meet at the Big West Championships, taking gold in the high jump and javelin while scoring in the shot put.
- Qualified for the NCAA First Round in both the high jump and javelin – the first UH athlete to qualify for the NCAA postseason in multiple events since 2016.
- Claimed gold in the high jump at the MPSF Championships for the third consecutive season.
Tara Wyllie, Jr., Jumps/Hurdles
- Qualified for the NCAA First Round in the triple jump outdoors for the second year in a row.
- Won the triple jump indoors at the MPSF Championships for the second consecutive year and placed third in the event at the Big West Championships outdoors.
- Owns the school record in the triple jump indoors (12.66m) and is second all-time outdoors (12.93m).
