INDIANAPOLIS — University of Hawai'i junior
Raha Peiravani repeated as the recipient of the NCAA ELITE 90 award for the 2025 National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship.
Peiravani, majoring in finance and international business with a minor in psychology, currently carries a 3.97 GPA. Peiravani also earned the 2024 honor and was presented with the award for a second straight year during the tournament banquet on Thursday in Indianapolis.
The Elite 90 award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. This prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite 90 is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
Peiravani is the third water polo player to earn back-to-back ELITE 90 awards since 2010 and became UH's first two-time winner. Last year she became the third Rainbow Wahine water polo player to claim the honor, joining Amarens Genee (2013) and Taylor Molde (2015).
In all, UH has claimed seven ELITE 90 awards in four sports. Other award winners were Stephanie Brandt (women's volleyball, 2009), Katie Spieler (2016, beach volleyball) and Kāna'i Akana (2022, men's volleyball).
UH (21-4) will face California in the first round of the NCAA championship on Friday at IU Natatorium. The match is set for 2 p.m. Eastern Time (8 a.m. Hawaii Time).
