IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i senior
Lilian Turban took home Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors for the fifth time in her career Tuesday following a stellar all-around weekend at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Turban turned in a standout weekend in three different events, highlighted by a Big West-leading toss in the javelin. She took home the win in the event on Friday with a mark of 45.85m (150-5) to take over the conference lead while also moving into fifth on the UH all-time top 10 list.
The Tallinn, Estonia native then opened day two on Saturday by taking home her third win of the season in the high jump, clearing 1.76m (5-9.25). The 2024 high jump All-American heads into the conference postseason meet with the third-best mark in the Big West, just .03m off the conference lead.
Turban also delivered a career-best performance in the shot put, posting a PR with a toss of 14.67m (48-1.75) to finish third in the meet. That mark also moved her into seventh on the UH all-time top 10 list.
Turban is the second Rainbow Wahine athlete to earn field athlete of the week honors this year, joining
Tara Wyllie. It also marks the fourth consecutive year that Hawai'i has earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors multiple times in a season.
