IRVINE, Calif.—Senior catcher Izabella Martinez was voted Big West Field Player of the Week after leading Hawai'i with a .556 batting average against UC Riverside last week. Martinez came through in the clutch with a two-run single late in the series finale to help lead UH to its third series win. This is the third Big West Field Player of the Week award for Martinez.

Martinez, a native of Garden Grove, Calif., hit safely in all three games last week to extend her hitting streak to nine-straight games. She racked up a team-high five hits, including a double, against the Highlanders.

In the UCR opener, Martinez went 2-for-3 with a walk. In the second game of the series, she was 1-for-2 with a walk. In the rubber game, Martinez went 2-for-3 and in the bottom of the seventh, with UH trailing 2-0, Martinez came through with a clutch, two-run single up the middle to tie the game at 2-2, en route to UH's third walkoff win of the year.

Overall, Martinez leads UH with a .368 average (42-for-114) and in conference, she is tops on the team hitting .413 (19-for-46). She has tallied a team-best nine multiple-hit games while leading UH overall with 42 hits, 10 doubles, and 21 walks.

Martinez is the second Rainbow Wahine to earn the conference's weekly honor this season. Milan Ah Yat received the award on March 3 earlier this season. This is Martinez's third BW weekly award after earning it in back-to-back weeks during the 2023 season on April 10 and April 17.
