LA QUINTA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the 2024-25 season with a tie for ninth place at the 2025 Big West Championship following Tuesday's final round at the La Quinta Country Club.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a 1-under 287 to finish the three-day tournament at 7-over 871. Long Beach State rallied to capture the team title by five strokes over Cal State Fullerton, who led the tournament after the first two rounds of play. The Beach secures the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
LBSU's Krishnav Chopraa went wire-to-wire to capture medalist honors at 16-under 200.
UH's top finisher was
Josh Hayashida who carded even par 72 to finish at 1-under 215 and a tie for 15
th place.
Anson Cabello tied for 29
th place at 3-over 219 after a final round 75.
Dane Watanabe shot even par to close at 5-over 221 and a tie for 40
th while
Tyler Ogawa capped his UH career with a final round 73 to tie for 47
th at 7-over 223.
Nathan Szpakowicz subbed for
James Whitworth in the final round and shot 2-under 70.
