Rainbow Warriors Host Three-Game Series vs. Bakersfield

HONOLULU – Hawai'i begins the final month of the regular season with a key Big West series against Cal State Bakersfield Friday through Sunday at Les Murakami Stadium.
 
The Rainbow Warriors enter the weekend at 10-11 in conference play, a game out of fifth place. The top five in the league qualify for the Big West postseason tournament. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series, 10-8, with the away team winning all five series.

The Rainbow Warriors have enjoyed major success under head coach Rich Hill in the months of April and May, going 65-34 in the final two months of the season under his leadership. UH is also 48-21 after Tax Day (Apr. 15) under Hill.
 
7-8-9 IS 'BOW WARRIOR TIME
Hawai'i has owned the late innings over the course of the first 39 games, outscoring teams 93-53 from the seventh inning on. UH has been especially good in the ninth inning, currently holding a 30-9 advantage in the final frame. Additionally, the Rainbow Warriors are 17-0 when leading after the sixth inning. UH has also won five games when trailing heading into the ninth inning, and four games when tied going into the last.

After leading the nation in ERA in 2024, the Rainbow Warrior pitching staff has again positioned themselves as one of the elite groups nationally. UH is 18th in ERA (4.03), 14th in WHIP (1.26) and 15th in BB allowed/9 innings (3.37). UH is also 25th in hits allowed per nine innings (7.93) and 25th in opponent batting average (.236). Isaiah Magdaleno has led the way for the pitching staff out of the bullpen ranking in the top 15 nationally in WHIP (2nd), K/BB ratio (6th) and walks allowed per nine innings (13th).
 
ROLL IT
Hawai'i is ninth nationally in double plays turned with 37 through the first 10 weeks. The Rainbow Warriors have turned at least one double play in 25 of the 39 games, with multiple double plays in nine games. Of the 36 double plays, 23 have been inning-ending while 11 have been of the 6-4-3 variety and eight have gone 4-6-3.
