Kearney Wins First Big West Award

IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i's Finn Kearney was named the Big West's Freshman of the Week after his standout performance in the team's series split of top-ranked Long Beach State over the weekend.
 
The Phoenix, Ariz., native, who made his second and third starts of the season, earned his first career player of the week award.
 
It also marks UH's sixth freshman of the week award this season. Titriyski has received four awards while Adrien Roure grabbed one.
 
  • True freshman made his first two career starts at opposite for team kill-leader Kristian Titriyski
  • Led the team in kills in both matches, tallying career-highs of 17 kills a piece
  • Averaged 3.78 kills per set, hitting at a .288 clip in the series
  • Also averaged 0.67 digs per set and 0.67 blocks per set
  • In the series opener, posted 17 kills, one ace, two digs, and three blocks
  • In the rematch, recorded 17 kills, hitting .343, with four digs, and three blocks
