KA'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished in 16
th place following Wednesday's final round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Royal Kā'anapali Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine finished with a 901 total after a final round 301. Leading the way was
Emiko Sverduk, who carded a final round 3-over 75 and finished in a tie for 42
nd place at 5-over 221.
Washington grabbed the team title going away at 19-under 845, 11 strokes better than two-time champion Sacramento State (856), who finished runner-up followed by Oregon State (857), Denver (862), and BYU (864).
Gonzaga's Grace Lee and Washington's Vivian Lu shared medalist honors at 11-under 205. Denver's Emma Bryant finished in third place at 7-under 209.
Two other Rainbow Wahine shot 75 on the day –
Maline Kraus and
Sofina Firouzi. Kraus tied for 72
nd at 227 while Firouzi tied for 78
th at 230.
Kellie Yamane posted a final round 79 to finish at 10-over 226 and a tie for 66
th.
Varnika S. Achanta rounded out the UH contingent with a 234 total after a final round 76 to tie for 89
th.
Two others competed as individuals –
Wendy Song (75=221, t-46
th) and
Mia Hirashima (78=236, t-93
rd).
UH will next compete in the Fresno State Classic, March 31 and April 1 in Fresno, Calif.
