QUICK HITSLAST WEEK
Hawai'i won their first Big West series over UC Davis since 2017. UH defeated the Aggies 2-1 to take their first series in the 2025 season. UH and UCD were locked in a battle in the opener The game was tied at 4-4 through regulation, but in the eighth inning, the Aggies erupted for eight runs on eight hits to pull away for the win. UH's Macy Brandl then fired a one-hit shutout to split Saturday's doubleheader as UH won 6-0. In Sunday's rubber game, UH score two runs in the first inning and held the lead until the sixth when UCD rallied for two runs to knot the score at 2-2. Hawai'i however retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Cierra Yamamoto came through with a clutch. RBI single that drove in pinch-runner Keely Kai for what proved to be the winning run in the 3-2 victory.

MARTINEZ SETTING THE TABLE
Senior catcher Izabella Martinez led UH last week against UC Davis with a .636 batting average going 7-for-11 at the plate. After her offensive outburst against the Aggies, Martinez vaulted to the top of the UH offense both overall and in conference games with a .358 and .407 barring average respectively. Overall, Martinez leads UH with 34 hits, nine doubles, 18 walks and a .460 on-base percentage. She also leads Hawai'i with seven multiple hit games. UH's leadoff hitter has reached base safely in 28 of UH's 30 games this season. Martinez is somewhat of a unicorn as she is a catcher who is the team's leadoff hitter and she is also a catcher who calls her own game.

BRANDL MOWS DOWN AGGIES
Sophomore starter Macy Brandle had a standout week against UC Davis. In the second game of the series, Brandl fired a one-hit shutout. Then she got the start in the rubber game and shutout UCD through the first five innings, bringing her streak of shutout innings to 14.1 dating back to her appearance at CSUN. Overall she has thrown four shutouts this season and she also has UH's lone save. Brandl enters this week with a 3.53 ERA in 85.1 innings pitched with 29 walks and a team-best 47 strikeouts. She has held opponents to a .251 batting average and has an 8-4 overall record in 14 starts.

DEFENSE LEADS THE LEAGUE
The Hawai'i defense continues to lead the Big West and is ranked 19th in the NCAA DI with a .976 team fielding percentage. UH's pitching staff is ranked second in the league with a 3.55 ERA.

McGAUGHEY HELPS TO POWER UH OFFENSE
Sophomore first baseman Jamie McGaughy is second on the team with a .321 batting average. She leads UH with seven home runs and a .667 slugging percentage. She is tied for second on the team with 25 hits, 14 runs scored, 17 walks, and she is third on the team with 18 RBI and five multiple-hit games. Her seven home runs ranks her second in the Big West and her .667 slugging percentage ranks her at No. 3 in the BW.

THOMAS COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH
Although senior third baseman Liliana Thomas is eighth on the team in batting average at .256, she leads UH with 16 runs scored and 20 RBI. In conference games, Thomas has raised her average to .318 (7-for-22) and has scored a team-best six runs while driving in a team-high six RBI. She leads UH in BW games with three home runs as well

CINZORI TAKES OVER AT DESIGNATED PLAYER
Last week, Ellyanna Cinzori reclaimed the designated player position, hitting .500 (3-of-6) with a double, a run, and an RBI. Overall, Cinzori is hitting .313 (10-for--32) with six runs, two doubles, a home run and five RBI. A total of four Rainbow Wahine have pursued the DP position with Cinzori amassing 11 starts. Kolbi Kochi has started nine games at DP, Millie Fidge has started seven games and Alyssa Nakagawa has three starts at DP this year.
