IRVINE, Calif. – Three University of Hawai'i men's volleyball players earned Big West weekly honors following the team's road trip sweep of Belmont Abbey, Catawba, and Queens last week.
'Eleu Choy was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Kristian Titriyski was Freshman of the Week, and
Tread Rosenthal was Setter of the Week. For Choy, it marked his first career defensive award while Titriyski and Rosenthal are two-time honorees this season.
The trio was instrumental in helping UH bounce back from its first loss of the season. Choy played and started all four matches last week while Titriyski and Rosenthal started three of the four matches.
'Eleu Choy
- Averaged 2.21 digs per set in four matches
- Played all 14 sets and totaled 31 digs
- Recorded a reception percentage of .974 with only two errors in 76 total attempts
- Season-high 11 digs in UH's four-set win over Queens
- Had 6+ digs in all four matches
Kristian Titriyski
- Averaged 4.50 kills per set and 4.94 points per set
- Played and started in three of the four matches and totaled 36 combined kills, hitting at a .388 clip
- Also averaged 1.63 digs per set
- Tallied a match-high 18 kills with two aces and seven digs in UH's four-set win over Queens to close out the trip
- Had 13 kills, hitting .391, with six digs in a straight-set win over Queens
- Also recorded five kills in nine errorless attempts in one set of action against Belmont Abbey
Tread Rosenthal
- Averaged 12.30 assists per set
- Appeared and started in three of the four matches
- Led UH to a team hitting percentage of .413 in the three matches he played, including .456 against Belmont Abbey and .426 in the second Queens match
- Also averaged a team-best 2.50 digs per set with four aces, and six blocks in the series
- Recorded eight combined kills in 15 errorless attempts, hitting at a .533 clip
- Had 8+ digs in each of the three matches
- Served three aces in the Queens series opener
