UH will look to build on its runner-up finish at the meet last year, the best-ever by the program at the MPSF Indoor Championships. The 'Bows have also placed in the top four of the conference in each of the last three years.
"I think over the past few years we've built a strong team culture," said director of track & field/cross country
Tim Boyce. "Last year we had great success and were second place at this championship with a number of individual champions. I think we've built the expectation that Hawai'i is going to go to these meets and be successful."
UH has totaled 35 new program top 10 marks throughout the indoor season and currently hold five MPSF top three marks. The 'Bows have also set a trio of school records over the course of the indoor season.
Three Rainbow Wahine will look to defend their MPSF event crowns this weekend, with
Helen Hoadley (pole vault),
Lilian Turban (high jump) and
Tara Wyllie (triple jump) back looking to win their respective events again. Hoadley broke her own school indoor pole vault record the last time out clearing 4.13m (13-6.5) and currently sits in second in the MPSF.
Turban is the two-time defending MPSF high jump champion and heads into the meet in second in the event (1.82m, 5-11.5), having competed just twice this season. Wyllie will attempt to go back-to-back in the triple jump after setting a PR her last time out at the UW Invite with a jump of 12.59m (41-3.75) that came just .03m shy of the school indoor record.
