PALM DESERT, Calif. – University of Hawai'i's
Maline Kraus carded a 2-over 73 in the opening round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic Saturday at the Monterey Country Club.
The Düsseldorf, Germany native posted a birdie and only two blemishes on her round, a bogey at No. 11 and double bogey at No. 16. She currently sits in a tie for 30
th place heading into Sunday's second round.
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine are in 16
th place in the 21-team field with a 301 total. No. 5 Oregon leads the field at 8-under 276 followed by No. 3 USC at 283. Individually, Oregon teammates Kiara Romero, Suvichaya Vinijchaitham, and Karen Tsuru are tied atop the leaderboard at 3-under 68 along with San Jose State's Moa Andersson.
