HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team wrapped up its Fall schedule defeating Hawai'i Hilo, 9-0 on the final day of the Hawai'i Fall Invitational on Sunday. Sophomore pitcher Taryn Irimata got the start and earned the win throwing the first four frames at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Irimata threw four scoreless innings in the combined shutout. She allowed three hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Senior Hannah Pitts fired the fifth and sixth innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts and a walk. Rookie Maryn Macneil tossed the final inning to preserve the shutout.
The 'Bows struck first, scoring six runs in the second inning, UH loaded the bases with no outs on three walks. Highlighting the inning was freshman third baseman Briana Maio-Silva who drilled a double to the right-center gap to drive in two runs.
Hawai'i loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth on a hit and two walks. The first two runners were erased at the plate on forceouts by the second baseman and shortstop. With the bases still loaded and two outs, one run scored on a wild pitch and later Keely Kai touched home plate after scoring from second after colliding with the catcher on a ball hit to the rightside which extended UH's lead to 8-0.
In the fifth, Kolbi Kochi reached on a single to left and later, Bailey Nagasako drove in the run with a single up the middle to give UH a 9-0 lead.
The first game of the day was canceled due to heavy overnight rains which left the field unplayable.
This marked the end of the Rainbow Wahine's fall season slate of games. The Rainbow Wahine will open their regular season hosting the Marucci Invitational tournament from Feb. 5-7, 2026.
