HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team opens the 2025-26 season by taking on Portland State on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine will open at home for the first time since 2020 and for the fourth time under head coach
Laura Beeman, who is entering her 14th season leading the program.
Coming off a second straight Big West regular-season title and fourth consecutive postseason appearance, the 'Bows unveiled their new-look lineup in two intra-island exhibition wins and enter the season as the favorite in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Tuesday night's season opener against Portland State will be accompanied by the promotion of "Our Team. Hawai'i's Team."
• The home opener for all ticketed sporting events within the University of Hawai'i athletics department is considered a "Our Team. Hawai'i's Team." theme to promote unity within our community, where UH recognizes individuals or groups making a difference across the Aloha State.
• Rainbow Wahine basketball welcomes the "Center for Tomorrow's Leaders" as our special guest. The Center will be honored at halftime for their efforts to help young people succeed not only in the classroom but also in the business world.
• Chaz Mihara, an Executive Producer and podcaster for CTL, will lead the home crowd in a "Let's Go Bows!" chant right before tipoff of the game.
• Fans will have opportunities throughout the night to take home a "Our Team. Hawai'i's Team" shirt, along with other fun additions and prizes as part of the game atmosphere.
• All keiki, 18 and under, are welcome to attend the game free of charge, as they are for every women's basketball home game this season. |

'BOWS NOTES
- Laura Beeman leads the Rainbow Wahine into her 14th season as head coach with a roster comprised of seven returnees and eight newcomers, including six freshmen and two transfers.
- UH was voted first in the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll for the fourth consecutive season and enter the season at No. 25 in the Collegeinsider.com Mid Major Top 25.
- Imani Perez, the team's lone returning senior, and sophomore center Ritorya Tamilo earned conference recognition last season and were voted to the 2025-26 Big West Preseason Coaches' Team.
- The Rainbow Wahine feature 11 international student-athletes on their 15-player roster — six from Australia, three from New Zealand and one each from Canada and Italy.
- UH is 27-24 all-time in season openers and 3-10 under Beeman. The 'Bows are seeking their first win in a season opener since the 2019-20 season, a 61-58 victory over San Diego State.
- The 'Bows will play their first seven games at home before embarking on their first road trip of the season for the Big West's Bold Week in early December.
- UH's preparation for the season included exhibition wins over Chaminade (90-33) and Hawai'i Pacific (74-34).
- UH started three newcomers in their two exhibition games — freshman guards Teyahna Bond and Bailey Flavell and senior forward Saniyah Neverson — along with Perez and sophomore Rebecca Moors.
THE MATCHUP
- UH and Portland State meet for the 11th time in a series that began on Jan. 22, 1979, an 85-43 Vikings win in Portland, Ore.
- The Rainbow Wahine have won the last three meetings, including a 72-50 win last season in Portland. Portland State last defeated UH on Dec. 2, 2010, 77-66 in Portland.
- The 'Bows and Vikings last met in Honolulu on Nov. 21, 2021, a 71-68 UH win.
- Karlie Burris will make her debut as Portland State head coach against UH. Burris previously served as an assistant coach at UNLV and was on the bench for the Rebels' win over the 'Bows in the first round of last season's Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament in Las Vegas. She also coached against UH in the Big West as an assistant at Cal State Fullerton (2017-20).
- The Vikings return nine players off of last year's team that went 4-24.
- Kyleigh Brown is the Vikings' leading returning scorer at 9.8 points per game.
- Portland State's roster includes one player from Hawai'i, guard Laynee Torres-Kahapea (Kāne'ohe, Punahou School).
- The rosters have nine players from Australia between them (six for UH, three for PSU).
