HONOLULU – For the first time in 25 years, the University of Hawai'i women's golf team's fall tournament will move to the island of Kaua'i. The 28
th edition of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational will be played Oct. 20-22 at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Līhu'e, Kaua'i.
The tournament has traditionally been hosted by Kapolei Golf Club but this year moves to Ocean Course at Hokuala, where the golf course has hosted several other UH tournaments, including the 2024 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. Hokuala has also served as the home course for the men's team's John A. Burns Intercollegiate for the past four years.
This year's Rainbow Wahine Invitational field features 19 teams highlighted by nine teams ranked in Scoreboard's Top 100 national rankings including 15

Making up the rest of the field are Grand Canyon, Idaho, Kennesaw State, Nevada, Osaka Gakuin (Japan), San Diego State, Tulane, Washington State, and Wyoming. UH is ranked No. 138 in the season's first national ranking.

UH's lineup is
Jasmine Wong,

Three other Rainbow Wahine will be competing as individuals –
Varnika S. Achanta,
Wendy Song and
Sofina Firouzi.
UH's fall tournament was played at Kapolei 17 times under various names including the Kent Youel Invitational. UH first began hosting a fall tournament in 1997 with the Princeville Rainbow Wahine Fall Classic on Kaua'i for two years. The tourney moved to O'ahu and Kapolei hosted the event from 1999-2008 and again in 2011. In between, UH hosted the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational on the North Shore of O'ahu in 2009 and '10.
UCLA has won the most Rainbow Wahine Invitational tournament titles with five followed by Sacramento State, which has three titles most recently in 2019. Host UH does not have a team title in the event although Melanie Matsumura tied for first in 1999 but lost in a sudden death playoff. The Rainbow Wahine have three runner-up finishes most recently in 2015.
Home to the longest continuous stretch of oceanfront holes in the state of Hawai'i, the Ocean Course was named one of the "World's Most Beautiful Golf Courses" by MSN Travel. The 18-hole golf course is part of Timbers Kaua'i Ocean Club & Residences, a private residential club which opened in 2018 on the island's southeast coast.
Following this week's tournament, the Rainbow Wahine will conclude the fall season with the Nanea Invitational, Oct. 27-29 at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
