SEATTLE – The Hawai'i track and field team continued its strong start to the season with more program top 10 performances on day one of the Husky Invite Friday.
The Rainbow Wahine added a total of eight new program top 10 marks to the record books, narrowly missing out on setting program records in a couple of those performances.
In the first pentathlon opportunity of the season for the Hawai'i multis squad,
Catherine Touchette and
Maya Holman posted program top 10 scores with Touchette moving into fourth with 3,783 points and Holman into sixth with 3,719 points.
Touchette shattered her previous personal best pentathlon point total of 3,380 thanks largely to her school pentathlon 800m record time of 2:12.00 that broke her own record by over four seconds. Holman also delivered a huge PR by nearly 500 points, highlighted by a long jump mark of 5.76m that moved her into third place all-time at UH.
Zola O'Donnell posted the first of UH's program top 10s by delivering a huge PR in the 5000m to move into third all-time at UH. The sophomore lowered her personal best by nearly two minutes with a time of 17:22.75 to win her heat.
Sariah Hernandez joined O'Donnell in moving into the 5000m top 10, posting a time of 17:53.37 to take over the No. 6 spot all-time at UH.
Emilie Kirk Langschwager followed that up by narrowly missing out on a program record in the 3000m. Langschwager lowered her personal best and No. 2 time at UH with a time of 9:40.58, coming in just .56 seconds off the school record of 9:40.02 set by Camille Campos in 2017.
Tara Wyllie advanced to the 60 meter hurdle final where she matched her personal best and No. 6 all-time mark at UH with a time of 8.69 to finish second in the meet. Wyllie also added to her already second-best triple jump mark in school history with a jump of 12.59m to win the meet, coming up just .03m shy of matching the program record.
Freshman
Nora Fischer continued her strong start to her collegiate career by moving into the Hawai'i top 10 in the 200m, crossing the line in 25.26 to take over the No. 8 spot in school history.
The Rainbow Wahine close out action at the UW Invite Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. HT.
