HONOLULU – The No. 4 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will face its toughest test of the season with a two-match series at No. 5 BYU, Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday Feb. 1 at Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. MT (4:00 p.m. HT).

- BYU leads the overall series 42-23 including a commanding 25-4 advantage in Provo, Utah.
- UH has won three of the last four dating back to 2019.
- UH was idle last week while BYU dropped a two-match series with No. 2 UC Irvine in Irvine, Calif. The Cougars dropped the first match in five sets and the rematch in straight sets.
- Hawai'i and BYU last met in the 2021 NCAA Championship match in Columbus, Ohio, which UH won in straight sets to claim its first official national title.
- The teams last played in Provo at the 2019 BYU Invitational which UH won in straight sets to capture the tournament title and snap a 15-match losing streak in Smith Fieldhouse.
- The teams also played during the 2020 campaign, splitting a two-match series in Honolulu which ended up being the last matches played that year before the pandemic halted the season.
- UH's four wins in Provo occurred in 1995, 2001, '03, and '19.
- Hawai'i has a combined record of 202-226 (.471) against current members of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. UH was a member of the MPSF for 25 seasons from 1993-2017.
- Since leaving the MPSF and joining the Big West, UH has a 29-4 record against MPSF teams since 2018.
- UH head coach Charlie Wade has an 8-15 mark against BYU.
- Wade currently has 298 career victories and two more wins would make him the fifth current Division I-II head coach with 300. A total of 20 head coaches all-time in Division I-II have 300 career wins, led by the winningest coach Al Scates (1,239). Former UH head coach Mike Wilton currently ranks 20th with 316 wins.

- BYU OH Keoni Thiim was a three-year letterman for the Warriors from 2022-24 appearing in 87 career matches with 14 starts. Thiim is the grandson of former UH coach Mike Wilton, who is the winningest coach in program history with 316 wins.
