Water Polo Begins Home Schedule with Rainbow Invitational

HONOLULU — The fifth-ranked University of Hawaiʻi women's water polo team begins the home schedule with the two-day Rainbow Invitational featuring Arizona State, Biola, Loyola Marymount and the host Rainbow Wahine at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

UH opens the Rainbow Invitational against No. 10 Loyola Marymount on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:00 p.m. HT in a match televised on Spectrum Sports. The 'Bows
will then play a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 25, taking on Biola at 12:00 p.m. and No. 12 Arizona State at 6:00 p.m.

The University of Hawai'i has adopted a Clear Bag Policy in order to improve public safety within the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. Attendees may bring in one (1) clear bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12" and are limited to one clear bag per person … Umbrellas and outside food and drink are allowed in the facility. 

Promotions/Themes Friday: "Aloha Friday" — Fans are encouraged to wear aloha attire to the game
Saturday: "Movie Marathon" — Wear pajamas to The Duke for the final day of the Rainbow Invitational

OPENING SPRINT
  • UH remained at No. 5 in the Collegate Water Polo Association Women's Varsity Top 25 after going 1-1 in the Fresno State Polopalooza.
  • The Rainbow Wahine also rank fifth in the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Top 20 poll.
  • The 'Bows split a doubleheader on the opening day of the 2025 season, defeating No. 18 San Jose State, 15-6, and later falling to No. 2 Stanford, 12-7 on Jan. 18 at the Fresno State Aquatic Center.
  • UH senior Bernadette Doyle tied her career high with four goals, Jordan Wedderburn and Ema Vernoux each tallied three goals against San Jose State and the 'Bows gave James Robinson a victory in his debut as head coach.  
  • Through two matches, Doyle leads UH with five goals and five steals. Vernoux follows with four goals and three steals. 
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Daisy Logtens made 11 saves in the season's opening weekend.
  • UH is 14-1 all-time in the Rainbow Invitational and went 3-0 last season defeating Princeton (10-6), Azusa Pacific (18-3) and Fresno State (9-5).
  • UH has won two consecutive home openers.
