Men's Basketball Hits The Road For Pair of Big West Contests

HONOLULU  The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team returns to the road for a pair of games, beginning with a trek to Northern California and a meeting with UC Davis on Thursday, Jan. 23. Tipoff is 6:00 p.m. PT/4:00 p.m. HT at the University Credit Union Center. 

The Rainbow Warriors (12-6, 4-3 Big West) and Aggies (11-8, 5-3) are in the midst of a tight Big West race. Just a half game separates the teams in the conference standings. Coming off a road sweep at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis is currently in third, while UH is in a four-way tie for fourth place after a spitting a pair of home games last week.

GAME STORY LINES
  • The Rainbow Warriors have won four of their last five games, including their last two road games.
  • The Aggies lead the series 8-5 in Davis, including four straight wins there dating back to 2021.
  • Three of the last four games meetings between the team have been decided by double-digits
  • This will be the first meeting between the teams since last year's Big West Championship semifinals in which UCD  held on for a 68-65 win. 
  • UC Davis ranks 11th in the NCAA in turnovers forced per game (16.3), while also ranking 21st nationally in free throws made per game (17.9).
  • All-Big West guard TY Johnson leads the Big West and is sixth nationally at 21.2 ppg.
  • The Rainbow Warriors are shooting.47.6% on the season, tops in the Big West. That includes a league-best 49.7% in Big West games.
  • Following its game vs. Davis, the 'Bows will head south to take on conference leader UC Irvine.
