LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The University of Hawai'i softball team was recognized for its success in the classroom as a record 17 Rainbow Wahine earned Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athlete honors last week. UH's 17 honorees were amongst over 2,500 Division I softball student-athletes to finish with at least a 3.50 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Previously, the record for UH was set last season when 15 Rainbow Wahine earned the award.
Six UH players were tabbed an NFCA Scholar-Athlete for the first time, while seven Rainbow Wahine earned the award for the second time.
Haley Johnson, was recognized for the third-straight year and
Dallas Millwood and
Maya Nakamura both garnered the award for the fourth year in a row. Johnson and Millwood both finished their careers after being named All-Big West honorable mention this past year, while Nakamura concluded her stellar career earning All-Big West second team honors.
