Soccer Welcomes Two Local Transfers

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's soccer program welcomes two former local high school standouts to the 2024 roster with the additions of Jordyn Eldredge Sagapolutele and Leila Kahoano.

Eldredge Sagapolutele, a sophomore forward and graduate of Punahou School, joined the Rainbow Wahine this spring as a transfer from Delaware State. Kahoano, a former All-State midfielder at Kamehameha-Kapālama, returns to the islands after starting her college career at the University of San Diego.

Eldredge Sagapolutele earned All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu first-team honors as a senior at Punahou and helped the Buffanblu capture the 2023 Division I state championship. She was also named to the Scoring Live All-State second team in 2023 and made the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I All-Tournament team following the 2022 state tournament.

She spent the 2023 season at Delaware State and saw action in eight games with seven starts and played 585 minutes. In February, Eldredge Sagapolutele helped Samoa's national team reach the semifinals of the Oceania Women's Olympic qualifier for the first time. She was also named to the first Hawaiian National Team in 2023.

Eldredge Sagapolutele mother, Denise Eldredge, played for the Rainbow Wahine in 1995. Three of her cousins are members of the UH football team in quarterback John-Keawe Sagapolutele and defensive linemen Josh Sagapolutele and Anthony Sagapolutele.

Kahoano was a member of three ILH and Division I state championship teams (2019, '21, '22) at Kamehameha. She was a Honolulu Star-Advertiser first-team All-State selection and made the Scoring Live All-Hawai'i first team as a senior. She was also named to the 2022 HHSAA State Championship All-Tournament team as a senior after scoring three goals in the Warriors' third straight title run.

She played one season at San Diego and appeared in all 19 games with seven starts in 2022. She played 760 minutes and scored two goals in her lone season with the Toreros.
