Six Rainbow Wahine Earn Academic All-District Honors

HONOLULU – Six members of the Hawai'i soccer team earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors Wednesday for their outstanding efforts in the classroom and on the field.
 
Laule'a Ah Mook Sang, Izzy Ayala, Eve Bleam, Nalani Damacion, Tatum Porter and Cate Sheahan each took home the honor, which recognizes student-athletes who hold a GPA of at least 3.50 and make significant contributions to their team on the field.
 
It's the fourth consecutive season that UH has had the maximum of six student-athletes earn academic all-district honors while Ayala, Bleam, Porter and Sheahan have each received the honor multiple times, with Sheahan claiming the recognition for the third straight year.
 
Laule'a Ah Mook Sang, Sophomore, Defender
  • Started each of the final eight matches at outside back.
  • Averaged 64.0 minutes per match.
  • Played 60-plus minutes in 11 matches, including each of the last eight.
  • 38 career matches played and 16 starts over first two seasons.
 
Izzy Ayala, Junior, Midfielder
  • Played 1,734 out of a possible 1,800 minutes (96.3 percent).
  • Finished the season playing 1,182 consecutive minutes over the final 14 matches.
  • Played the full 90 minutes in each of the last 13 matches.
  • Only player to start all 20 matches.
  • Tied for second on the team with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists).
 
Eve Bleam, Senior, Defender
  • Honorable mention All-Big West.
  • Played in all 90 minutes in each of the last 11 minutes.
  • A mainstay on the back line for four years, leading the team with 68 career matches played and 63 starts.
  • Averaged 73.4 minutes per match over her career.
 
Nalani Damacion, Sophomore, Midfielder
  • Second-team All-Big West selection.
  • Finished second on the team with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist).
  • All seven of those points came in Big West play.
  • Tied for third in program history with eight career game-winning goals.
 
Tatum Porter, Junior, Forward
  • Honorable mention All-Big West.
  • Led the team with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists).
  • Seven of those points came in a three-match span – first UH player to do that since 2017.
  • Second on the team with 35 shot attempts.
 
Cate Sheahan, Senior, Forward
  • A three-time CSC Academic All-District selection.
  • Played in all 20 matches, making 19 starts.
  • Attacker who played at least 70 minutes in 15 matches, including the full 90 five times.
  • Finished career with 27 points (9 goals, 9 assists).
