HONOLULU — A program-record five members of the University of Hawai'i water polo team received recognition on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-America teams for the 2024 season.
The ACWPC announced the Division I All-America teams on Thursday and the Rainbow Wahine were represented on all four tiers following a record-breaking season. Sophomore center
Bia Mantellato Dias made the All-America first team. Junior attacker
Bernadette Doyle was named to the second team. Senior attacker
Alba Bonamusa Boix and freshman goalkeeper
Daisy Logtens made the third team and senior attacker
Lucia Gomez de la Puente was an honorable mention selection. The All-America teams are selected by ACWPC member coaches.
Mantellato Dias was a second-team pick in 2023 and moved up to become UH's 13
th first-team All-America selection and first since 2021 when Gomez de la Puente made the first team. Bonamusa Boix earned a spot on the ACWPC All-America lists for the third time in her career and Gomez de la Puente was included for the second time. Doyle and Logtens earned their first All-America honors.
The five honorees surpassed UH's previous high of four in 2005, 2015 and 2020. They helped the Rainbow Wahine go 23-4 and set a program record with an .852 overall winning percentage while claiming the Big West regular-season and tournament titles. The 'Bows also posted the highest final ranking in program history, finishing at No. 3 in the ACWPC and Collegiate Water Polo Association polls following a run to the semifinals of the Women's National Collegiate Water Polo Championship.
