2023-24 Women's Basketball Season Review

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

• Finished 20-11 overall and 17-3 in Big West.


• Captured the program’s fifth Big West regular-season championship and second in the last three years.


• Earned a berth in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament. The Rainbow Wahine qualified for a postseason event for the third straight season, the eighth time in Laura Beeman’s 12 years as head coach, and 19th time overall.


• Won 10 of the last 11 regular-season games to reach the 20-win mark for the 17th time in program history and fourth time under Laura Beeman.


• Went 10-0 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Big West play to go undefeated in conference home games for the first time since the 2014-15 season.


• Set the highest attendance mark for a stand-alone home game since 1998 with 5,068 tickets issued and 4,080 through the turnstiles for “Beeman’s Big Bash” against UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 17.


• Led the Big West and ranked 16th nationally in field-goal percentage defense (36.1%) and finished 21st in the country in scoring defense (56.3 points allowed per game).


• Had four members of the program receive All-Big West recognition — Laura Beeman, Daejah Phillips, Imani Perez and Lily Wahinekapu.


• Had two players — Daejah Phillips and Lily Wahinekapu — surpass the 1,000-point mark for their careers.


• Had two players receive College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in Olivia Davies and Lily Wahinekapu. Five players earned Academic All-Big West recognition — Davies, Wahinekapu, MeiLani McBee, Imani Perez and Ashley Thoms.


• Guard Olivia Davies earned the Ah Chew Goo Award as the Most Valuable Team Player and the Jack Bonham Award, the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department’s most prestigious honor. She shared the female award with Kaylee Glagau of Beach Volleyball.

COACH BEEMAN'S 200TH WIN AT HAWAI'I

Laura Beeman earned her 200th career win as Head Coach of the Rainbow Wahine in a dominant 85-48 victory over CSU Bakersfield to claim the Big West regular-season title.
