Three Men’s Volleyball Players Named To AVCA All-America Teams

The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team placed three members on the AVCA All-America teams. Middle blocker Guilherme Voss was selected to the second team while setter Tread Rosenthal and opposite Alaka'i Todd were named honorable mention.

Voss became a three-time All-American after earning second team honors in 2022 and first team honors last season. Rosenthal and Todd received their first All-America recognition. Just last week, Voss and Rosenthal were named to the All-Big West first team while Rosenthal was named the conference's freshman of the year.

It marked the first time since 2016 that Hawai'i did not have anyone on the first team or have at least four All-Americans in a single year.

Voss, a senior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, averaged 1.82 kills and 0.94 blocks per set, while hitting a .503 clip. He finished his career as the program's all-time career leader in hitting percentage (.510) and ranked fifth in blocks assists (385) and total blocks (433).

Rosenthal, a freshman from Manhattan Beach, Calif., earned Big West freshman of the week honors a record six times this season and ranked among the league leaders in assists per set (10.08) and aces per set (0.406), while directing an offense that ranked No. 2 nationally (.350).

Todd, a sixth-year senior, became a first-time starter at opposite this season and finished second on the team in kills per set (3.14) while hitting at a .329 clip. The Kailua, O'ahu native also tallied 27 aces and averaged 1.26 digs per set and 0.62 blocks per set.

The selections were made by the 2024 AVCA National Collegiate MVB All-America Committee: Alan Knipe, Long Beach State (chair); Sam Albus, Lees-McRae; Brian Baise, Harvard; John Hawks, Loyola Chicago; David Kniffin, UC Irvine; Ray Lewis, Merrimack; Mark Pavlik, Penn State; Rock Perrotte, Purdue Fort Wayne; John Speraw, UCLA; Derek Sullivan, Belmont Abbey; Ryan Thompson, Missouri S&T; Matt Werle, Grand Canyon; and Larry Wrather, Fort Valley State.
