LA QUINTA, Calif. – University of Hawai'i's
Kolbe Irei fired a 72 Monday in the second round of the Big West Championship at the La Quinta Country Club.
The Honolulu native is currently tied for 13
th place at 3-over 147 heading into Tuesday's final round.
As a team, the Rainbow Warriors sit in seventh place at 601 after a second round 299. Long Beach State vaulted into the top spot at 9-under 567 and a three-stroke lead over Round 1 leader Cal State Fullerton (570).
UC Irvine's Rei Harashima carded his second straight 68 and is tied atop the leaderboard at 8-under 136 along with Fullerton's Tegan Andrews. LBSU's Clay Seeber is one stroke back.
Josh Hayashida posted a 75 on Monday and is tied for 24
th at 5-over 149. Also competing for UH are
Blaze Akana (78=153; t-35
th),
Tyler Ogawa (76=154; t-38
th), and
Dane Watanabe (76=156; t-40
th).
Tuesday's final round begins at 8:00 a.m. PT. UH will be paired with UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside and will tee off at No. 10 hole.
