FIRST SERVE
  • UH and UC Irvine met once this season with the Rainbow Warriors pulling out a five-set victory on the final day of the OUTRIGGER Invitational in Honolulu.
  • UH's Spyros Chakas suffered a season-ending injury late in that match while UCI's Hilir Henno recorded a match-high 36 kills, hitting at a .412 clip with three aces.
  • Hawai'i leads the all-time series with UC Irvine, 49-22, including a current 15-match win streak dating back to 2018 (last loss Feb. 25, 2018 in Honolulu).
  • UH also holds a 22-13 advantage in Irvine with a current nine-match win streak dating back to 2015 (last loss Jan, 28, 2015).
  • From 2011-15, the Anteaters had won 10 of 11 in the series.
  • UH is 3-2 on the road this season while UCI is 8-2 at home.
  • UCI setter Brett Sheward lettered for UH from 2020-23 and was an honorable mention AVCA All-American for the Warriors last season at libero.
  • Head coach Charlie Wade has a 23-12 record against UCI.
  • Wade has directed Hawai'i to six 20-win seasons since 2010, the most 20-win campaigns of any UH coach. Mike Wilton had five 20-win seasons in 17 years (1993-2009).
  • UH's three losses in Big West play are tied for the second-most since the league was formed in 2018. Hawai'i lost four matches in the inaugural 2018 campaign  (6-4) and went 7-3 in 2022.
  • UH is hosting the Big West Tournament later this month at SimpliFi Arena. The top two teams clinch a first-round bye into the semifinals. Currently, UCI is No. 2 and UH is No. 3 in the league standings.
  • UH will close out the regular season with a two-match series at UC San Diego, April 12-13, in La Jolla, Calif. Last season, the teams closed out the regular season in Honolulu, and UH swept the series to clinch a share of the BW regular season title.
