AZUSA, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team opened competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday with day one of the heptathlon.
Sammie Gordon led the way for the four Rainbow Wahine in the multis event competitors, leading Group C with 3,258 points through four events. Gordon capped off her day by lowering her own school record in the heptathlon 200m dash, clocking a time of 24.46 seconds to beat her previous best by .57 seconds and move into 10
th all-time overall outdoors at UH.
Gordon also placed in the top five in her group in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.49 seconds and the high jump with a mark of 1.70m (5-7.00).

Catherine Touchette turned in the next-highest point totals with 2,911 and 2,735 points, respectively. Marx set personal bests in both the 100m hurdles and 200m dash, running a 15.19 in the hurdles and a 25.77 in the 200m. Touchette set a trio of outdoor PRs, jumping 1.58m (5-2.25) in the high jump while recording a toss of 8.71m (28-7.00) in the shot put and running a 25.90 in the 200m.
Grace Blanchette also put up three personal bests, running 15.04 in the 100m hurdles while turning in a toss of 9.47m (31-1.00) in the shot put and clocking a 26.86 in the 200m for a total of 2,699 points.
The Rainbow Wahine continue action at the Bryan Clay Invitational Friday beginning at 5 a.m. HT with distance events and the conclusion of the heptathlon.
