HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will participate in the Big West Championship this week in Las Vegas, Nev. The three-day tournament runs Sunday, April 14 through Tuesday, April 16 and for the second consecutive year, will be held at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
 
The Rainbow Wahine enter the championship as the No. 8 seed and will be paired in the first round with CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield. UH's tee times are scheduled for 10:10 a.m. PT to 10:50 a.m. PT.
 
Three-time defending champion Cal Poly is the highest ranked team in the field with a No. 80 followed by Long Beach State (#81), UC Davis (#85), Cal State Fullerton (#112), UC Riverside (#136), UC Irvine (#167), CSUN (#169), UH (#187), and Cal State Bakersfield (#226).
 
The winner of the Championship will receive the Big West's automatic bid into the NCAA regional field. If the individual champion is not from the winning team, they will also earn an entry into a regional.
 
Spanish Trail Country Club, a 27-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., will play at 6,315 yards and par 72. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. PT on Sunday with UH teeing off from 10:10 a.m. PT to 10:50 a.m. PT.
 
UH was co-champion of the event in 2022, securing its first women's golf conference championship in program history. Prior to that, the program's best finish at the championship was runner-up in 2015.  
 
Hawai'i will send a contingent of five golfers – Emiko Sverduk, Jordyn Parr, Kellie Yamane, Wendy Song, and Monica Johnson. Song and Johnson both competed at last year's championship at Spanish Trail. Johnson finished in a tie for 34^th place with a 243 total while Song completed Round 1 before being replaced in the line-up for the final two rounds. As a team, Hawai'i placed seventh with a 930 total and rounds of 311-302-317.
