Women's Basketball Opens Final Road Trip at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — The Big West-leading University of Hawai'i women's basketball team opens its final road trip of the regular season with a conference matchup against CSUN on Thursday, March 7 at Premier America Credit Union Arena in Northridge, Calif. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. Hawai'i time).

UH (18-9, 15-3 Big West) enters the road trip alone in first place in the Big West standings, one game ahead of UC Irvine (14-4) with two games remaining in the regular season. The 'Bows need one more win to clinch at least a tie for the program's third regular-season conference title under head coach Laura Beeman, and sixth overall.

TIPOFF

• UH has clinched a top-two seed and a double-bye in the upcoming Big West Championship in Henderson, Nev. The 'Bows will open defense of the tournament title in the semifinal round on March 15 at The Dollar Loan Center.
 
• UH's current five-game winning streak its longest of the season. The 'Bows have won nine of their last 10 games.
 
• UH won the first meeting with CSUN this season 67-38 on Jan. 6 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The Matadors' point total was the lowest allowed by UH since a 47-35 win at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 26. 2019.

• UH leads the series with CSUN 16-11 and is 6-4 in Northridge.
 
• UH has won the last six meetings, starting on Feb. 13, 2020. CSUN last defeated UH on Jan. 9, 2020, 58-54 in Northridge, Calif.
 
• Guards Daejah Phillips and Lily Wahinekapu continue to trade the team scoring lead. Phillips enters the week with 11.2 points per game followed by Wahinekapu at 11.1.

DEFENDING THE CROWN

• UH enter the week first in the conference and 21st nationally in scoring defense in allowing 56.3 points per game overall.

• UH opponents are shooting 36.4% on field-goal attempts overall, the lowest mark in the Big West and 22th in NCAA Division I.

• The 'Bows have held Big West opponents to 54.5 points per game, lowest average in the conference.

• UH has held opponents to 26.3% shooting on 3-point attempts, which ranks first in the conference and 13th among 348 Division I teams.

PROTECTING 'THE STAN'

• The Rainbow Wahine finished 13-3 overall at home this season — including 10-0 in Big West play —  and won 11 in a row in Manoa.

• UH went undefeated in conference home games for the first time since the 2014-15 season, the second time under Beeman and the eighth time since 1984.

• UH drew the largest crowd of Beeman's tenure as head coach for "Beeman's Big Bash" on Feb. 17. The 5,068 tickets issued and 4,080 turnstile count for UH's 68-84 win over UC Santa Barbara were both highs in Beeman's UH career, passing the previous marks of 4,340 and 3,491 set on senior night in 2015. The program's overall attendance record for a stand-alone game stands at 6,192 (6,004 turnstile) set on Feb. 14, 1998.

• UH's home attendance average of 2,293 (tickets issued) this season is the highest in the Big West. Cal Poly is next at 1,091.
